Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator
For this project I created two editorial illustrations for the short story "A Different Ending" by Shaily Menon. I started this project by drawing in paper various depictions of moments that occurred in the story. Presenting my rough sketches, my instructor and peers narrowed my focus to two illustrations that represent significant moments in the story. Afterwards, I began the digital outline using Adobe Illustrator, making use of the various tools, experimenting with line strokes and color palettes. After receiving feedback from my instructor and peers, I continued editing my illustrations: experimenting with the blend and gradients, and adding more details.
I included these illustrations in my portfolio because it illustrates my ability visual creativity. This was also one of my first digital illustration projects, using software such as Adobe. Prior to taking this course, I was not very educated with digital illustration. This course taught me some of the basics of creating digital design, a field I hope to explore in a career.
