For my Image and Imagination course, my overall task was to create an extended self-defined project. This was a project where I had limitless creative freedom but required me to think about a concept and process that is meaningful and demonstrates my experiences and overcoming ambiguity. I designed my own original character. Initially, I intended to create this project in the form of a short comic book strip, but after putting a lot of thought into the initial design, I realized that I wanted to focus more on visualizing my character from imagination to reality. My project evolved to creating a character illustration that resembles a movie poster. Using Procreate, I illustrated a setting and character that I imagined in my mind.
I included this project in my portfolio because this project gave me the opportunity to translate a vision I long imagined in my mind into reality. This was also the first project I employed using Procreate, a program I continue to use for designing illustrations for future careers and my own personal projects. This project also allowed me to refamiliarize myself with the use of skills such as creating typography using Adobe Illustrator. Overall, this course allowed me to showcase my abilities as an illustrator, experimenting with different visions and refamiliarizing myself with skills I have not utilized in a while.
