For my final project for my Photography and Digital Art course, I created a photographic series that incorporates both photography and visual media. This project required me to think about a concept that is meaningful to me and those who view my work. During the process of creating an initial set of photographs, I wanted to combine some of the photographs I took with digital art, editing my photos using Adobe Photoshop and adding vector designs using Illustrator. After receiving feedback from my instructor and peers, I narrowed my scope to conceptualize myself as an artist. Every photo displayed self-reflects me as an artist, like putting on another mask, stepping into a different reality. I think about what I’ve achieved, created, and want to bring to life in the future.
I included this project in my portfolio because it illustrates myself as a visual artist. I found it really challenging because of how much creative freedom I had to this project. This project required me to be really creative about my concept and visualization. This course expanded my skills in photography, and while not every photo in my final set worked out, this project in particular gave me the opportunity to incorporate the skills of photography, photo editing, and digital illustration to my work.
